Rationale

The course mining machinery is designed to improve knowledge about different kind of machineries used in underground &/or surface mine working. It is helpful for students to use gained knowledge for selecting suitable machinery for better transportation & in turn, can improve mine output. This course aims to provide domain knowledge of major machinery required for carrying out mining operations effectively.

Course Outcome

After learning the course the students should be able to:

  1. To know the principle, generation & distribution of compressed air its importance in Mining.
  2. To know about various methods of transportation through Aerial ropeway, rope haulages & Locomotives & its suitability.
  3. To know construction & types of Wire ropes including rope splicing & rope capping operations.

Active Learning

Preparation of power-point slides, which include videos, animations, pictures, graphics for better understanding theory and practical work – The faculty will allocate chapters/ parts of chapters to groups of students so that the entire syllabus to be covered. The power-point slides should be put up on the web-site of the College/ Institute, along with the names of the students of the group, the name of the faculty, Department and College on the first slide. The best three works should submit to GTU.
