To understand the water supply and sewage collection systems in cities
Course Outcome
After learning the course the students should be able to do:
1. Realize the dilemma of solid waste and the functional elements of a solid and Hazardous waste management system.
2. Classify the sources, types, composition and quantities of solid waste.\
3. Identify the physical, chemical and biological properties of solid waste.
4. Take measure to collection, transfer, transport, separate and process of solid and Hazardous waste.
5. Appraise aspects and issues related to recycling and composting of solid waste.
6. Use of incineration for disposal of solid waste.
7. Design aspects related to land disposal of solid and Hazardous waste

Active Learning
Preparation of power-point slides, which include videos, animations, pictures, graphics for better understanding theory and practical work – The faculty will allocate chapters/ parts of chapters to groups of students so that the entire syllabus to be covered. The power-point slides should be put up on the web-site of the College/ Institute, along with the names of the students of the group, the name of the faculty, Department and College on the first slide. The best three works should submit to GTU
